Wont hurt the birds. Mine have been getting it for years ...yep broccolini and I thought it was asian too ....

According to Wikipedia, Broccoli, Kale, Cabbage, etc. are all cultivars (cultivated varieties) of Wild Cabbage Brassica oleracea, which is "native to coastal southern and western Europe"
