OK mixed some veta farm insect stuff with madiera cake and ground eggshells ...The Zebs and Golds loved it the emblemas , stars and orange breasts hung out for seed ( I took all seed out to force feed them sorta).
Am reluctant to do this again with the cold nights here as I think they need to be fed up well to survive the cold so am going to just mix it in with the seed , still trying mealies without luck .
Kinda thinking now that I will keep trying but wont obsess as they are all healthy on the diet they have and after all if it aint broke why fix it .....

Still no luck with getting these fussy buggers to eat anything but seed....Read that boiling the mealies might appeal to them . I dont know . Kinda think they should be eating more than seed and fruit/veg and would love to get something going b4 spring.

Oi Don't throw you beetles out as they will lay eggs for next year. Don't throw out your pollard / bran either as it will be full of eggs.
Some silly bugger counted & reckon that the beetles lay about 250 eggs each --- would have hated that job
