Hi all,

Has anyone experienced this scenario?

I have a pair of emblema's in a mixed open avairy (2 x canaries, 2 x diamond doves and 2 x ruddies).

I have two nesting boxes one is about 15cm above the other. The Emblemas have made a thick nest in the bottom box and both share sitting on what must be eggs in there, (I can't see).

In the box above there is no nesting matieral and about 10 eggs that they sit on every now and again. Not as much as the bottom box.

I'm not sure if I should throw them out or let them go for a few more days. I don't want them wasting time on the eggs in the second box at the risk of neglecting the ones in the well made nest.

How are they going?
You might find they will stop sitting on both because of the inconsistencies of being in the one particular nest 100% of the time.
I would clean out the nest that they are not brooding hard in, no matter how much material is in there. Painteds dont usually build a big nest and if it is in a big box they will have trouble for sure.
