My query be it ignorance on my part maybe, please enlighten me.Image What's stopping disease or pathogens being brought in with migrating birds, admittedly most are sea birds but can they not be a vector for nasties?Image They do island hop to get here. A lot of them stop over at rubbish dumps to feed for example.Image

The "Powers that be" argue that any bird capable of long distance migration is healthy and capable of the journey!
It would also be unlikely to be coming in contact with captive populations, Therefore the risk is minimal. Go figure?

Does anyone know if the authorities could tell the difference between a racing pigeon and a foreign fruit pigeon. If not can they be imported, wouldnt it be great to have some of those magnificently coloured pigeons.
