HI All
what type of feeders and water holders do you find the best for breeding cabinets?
I really want to find something that is as clean as possible.
Easy to maintain and minimises wastage on seed.
Also something that doesnt take too long. Quick and easy.

Maybe a photo of what you use or a link of where you bought it from or where i can buy them from.

seed hopper with a catcher, combined with a seed winnower would work? a gravity fed water hopper would also be good. both are readily available.

I use the dripper type drinking bottle, similar to what is used for small animals like Mice, Rats and Guinea Pigs, and they are carried by most pet stores. I have found the ones with two small stainless steel balls are better than one bigger ball. The drinking bottles I have had most success with are manufactured by ‘Classic Pet Products’ and are made in England. They come in a variety of sizes; I use the small ‘Hamster’ and the large ‘Bunny’ drinking bottles. I have 24 cages in my cabinet setup and have 2 sets of drinking bottles (48 in total), one set in use and the second set being cleaned and sterilized. I use them on a weekly rotation. Initially I had one set when I first started, however I found I didn’t have the time. I initially thought I would be able to clean and sterilize some each day. These drinking bottles are a bit more expensive but…I have had them in use for nine years now and only had two failures, because I dropped the full bottle onto concrete.

It takes the birds a couple of days to learn to use them but most new birds to my setup are placed with a teacher (Bengalese) for a couple of days when I first put them into quarantine.
I am interested in purchasing any of the more unusual Lonchura species and/or their subspecies. Particularly the Asian Munias or New Guinea Mannikins. If you have some and wish to sell them, PM me with the type, quantity and price

I will buy related or unrelated birds. I am also happy to organise and pay freight from anywhere in Australia.

Those Waterers Sound Like the best Idea.
What do you use for feeders?
Wastage is very bad with finches.
