I give my finches alot of fruit including apples, figs, banana, kiwi, ect. With vegies I give corn ,brocilli, silverbeat, ect. Now to the question how would tomato go, I know that the plant is poisonous and coliflower are they ok to give. What types of cabbage are ok to use as greens because the normal seems to be to tough.

Wombok AKA chinese cabbage .. not so tough and the birds love it . Easy to grow I have about 20 starting to form heads now . Oh yeah yummy blanched and tossed with bacon and onion and soy sauce ( human food ).
Overall favourite and another one dead easy to grow are the pak choy / buk choys ( for the birds ). :D

Tomato is ok for the birds, though you may get little tomato plants popping up around the aviary after a while...

I too put in corn on the cob will be lucky if it lasts the day, everytime I put corn in I have to put in 8 coz there can be a bit of a choas if I don't. Brett you should try some woombok (Chinese cabbage) great hit with mine. By the way thanks again deb. If you can Brett try and get some figs really good canaries won't leave until its finished so give it a go.

I do my little friend also milk Thistle, certain flowers, chicweed and all the seeding grasses I can find that I know they eat. That's why I don't have much of a Garden to many weeds.

Nathan ever tried to grow seed and let it mature to get green seed pods, my birds love it, especially the gouldians and stars.

Any of the kales are great cabbage-type finch greens. Agree with Bok Choy being perfect green food too.
