looks normal to me. i am also in melbourne and one of mine has orangish feathers around the base of the rump the rest is a deep red. my other is almost burgundy and very heavily spotted with thick white under his eye. i like this trait, however he is stuck in moult and stays this colour year round.
lovely singers. think i'll always at least keep one male just for the song.

Thanks toothless and buzz will have to wait and see about the colour change hope it doesn't happen quite like the orange colour, yes toothless I also like my whistlers that's only 3 of the 10 young from that pair their3/4 boarder, got lots more in my aviery at my mums house just waiting to spring to tell boys from girls so as to see what I want to keep.
