Well the fire season is well and truly here. We are currently experiencing massive fires on the out skirts of town. After record rains last year we now have record fuel loads . Might be a timely reminder for those in rural areas to ensure you have fire breaks in ect. Google- nafi and hit NT southern region to see whats going here if your intersted. Maybe BB could add the link for me.I fear as the wind generally picks up in September most of the southern region NT will burn.

After reading the above post I just wonder. Here in my office I look out across the lawn to the pond.It is overflowing, nothing is near it, the rain has been belting down for the last 8 hours and it is probably about 6c. Yet it is better than the threat of fire.
But it wont be long now when the sun is shining and it is nice hot weather. As for those in the fire area I hope all ends up well for all.

Little bit off topic but here goes ..
I lived in the Blue mountains most of my teenage / young adult years and saw some very spectacular fires . Been evacuated twice and have come home to (luckily) an intact house surrounded by black /death/destruction.
Anyhoo what I find really amazing is how quickly everything greens up and returns to normal . Tree ferns usually kick in first followed by the gum trees sprouting new growth .
Mother nature at her worst / best .
And very true it is looking like a bad fire season coming up.
Good luck out there D/birds .

Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.
