Some years ago I had a strain of yellow heads running for about 10 years - about 10 breeding pairs. Every year I'd purchase a few new yellow head cocks to introduce new blood (supposedly all were free of mutations). Then a white breast appeared (which I sold) and then over the years many white breasts appeared, so it's easier said than done. I only keep a few gouldians now - 2 are descendants of this line (and one is a white breast!).
Tintola, how many pairs do you keep? I'm always concerned about infertility and other issues emerging if I don't introduce new blood.
Nathan, how do you know they're pure normals?

Not present in the wild to my knowledge Deb. White Breasted is recessive, I probably introduced a split at some stage or maybe it was present in one of the original birds and it just took some years for two splits to breed.

Hi Nathan how long have you been breeding gouldians? can you be sure of that.....I bred normals for 18yrs straight never a mutant...but I doubt that could be said of 99% of the Goulds out there now...daveNathan Morleyy wrote:vettepilot_6 ,
