Just a thought...I doesn't AFF think about doing a yearly calender, with each month showing a different finch, and what we should be doing in the avaries within that month....for example, "In the southern states, you should start pairing Gouldians"....To get the wisdom of the old masters in birdkeeping would be invaluable....All money raised could go back to AFF to benefit us all. Looking at the talent with the photographs shown, I think we could achieve something wonderful & special....
Would anyone be up for this?

Cheers

It sounds good BUT who is going to do it.
I think those involved in running the Forum have enough to do as it is.

Sounds like a good idea, I would like more involvement from the members with regard to articles and pieces of interest for the newsletter instead of my interpretation of bird keeping every month, but despite my constant and no doubt annoying and pestering reminders in many topics I still don't get many offers to write something. After two years of the newsletters its getting harder to find original articles that haven't got copyright restrictions that haven't already used in the newsletter.
Those that have offered to write articles have been welcomed profusely and their articles have appeared in the newsletters.
The collecting of the older bird keeping hints, tips and ideas is something I brought up a while ago....but for me its not knowing many of the older keepers.

So if anyone wants to take this on I would be very happy to include it in the newsletter each month

Maybe everone who has an "old timers" story could do a paragraph and e-mail it to Di for a regular article in the newsletter. As well as a regular "what's happening now" photo section of photos submitted by members to Di from their previous months happenings. Sorry I'm photo illiterate.

I've actually got an excel document that makes nice charts. I've done a Gouldian calendar, based on Mike Fidler's one, so doing others wouldn't be such a problem. Of course getting the data and collaborating on something like Googledocs is probably the way to go and then just get it approved by the Moderators and Owners before it's posted.

Edit I can't get out of Finch mode. Here I was thinking a life cycle calendar and everyone is talking a planner. These are actually not too hard to make either and I know just the website to do it: Shutterfly.
Luckily Australia has more than 12 species - could even do an 18 month calander and it can start in any month.

Well, I guess it being my idea' I would be happy to take a leading role in it...Also another thought I had, we could include advertisements for seed/bird dealers etc....It's a captive audience...

I have been waiting many years for the currency to be changed to how many bird pictures on your computer. I would be set. I have 1,900 on my Computer laptop alone!

I'd be happy to be the October pin up, wearing a tastefully revealing, one piece pair of "Budgie Smugglers" in the Australian green and yellow colours. My legs look particularly fetching in Speedos. The fire brigade and other organisations do a similar thing and make a fortune. Naked picture below, can someone 'photo-shop' some Speedos on please?
