We used to do riverbanks too but somebody decided to grow the town out round the rivers and make this a little difficult. So yes guys what Orix said.
Or for those real lucky people do both and mix.

I dont use course sand in my mix,as the aviary floors are covered in it.But if you cant get to the beach or find a good bend in the river.You should either be able to source some course sand at either a landscape supplier of sand or a concrete plant.As course sand is also used in concrete along with beach sand.Take a bucket with you and tell them thats all you want to fill.

Thanks I think I would rather buy washed sand at the landscapers than use sand from the river at the moment ...not real clean .
