I just found a dead zebra hen dead in the cabinet she has 4 very healthy babies about 6 days old in the nesting box.
There are no signs of what she died from, but it is cold here today. She had fresh water and seed.
My question is now that the hen is dead will the cock bird raise the babies by him self.
Thanks
Harv

Sorry 'bout your hen, Harvey.
My goldfinch cock was dead on the floor this morning: I can't find a reason despite looking hard.
This cold weather has certainly stressed them all out a bit, and feeding chicks is stressful for them too.
Boiled seed will make it easier for your single father cockbird, good on you.
