We just tried the vent sexing method. Worked on one bird. The other one needs to get a bikini wax, too many feathers so couldn't see much. Might give it a bit more time to observe any trilling (have heard it on a couple of occasions but not close enough to see which of the two was doing it!). failing that we may resort to DNA sexing.

For those new to vent sexing, the pro-tip is to blow on the vent to part the feathers. You'll find this a damn sight more effective than trying to do it with your free hand, or you could try a bird in each hand to make comparison easier.
