This morning i`ve seen about 15 flocks (and they`re still coming) of budgies flying over head. They have all been heading North/ NE. A mate from work said his missus heard flocks going over last night. Obviously outback Queensland/ NT border has been getting some good rains, does anyone know where the best falls have been .? Inland i mean. There was also a few egrets heading the same way so im guessing there was quite a bit of rain.

When I was in Kalgoorlie in October there many flocks of Budgies flying about on one particular day & the local (birdman) who was with me said he hadn't seen them there in the 18years he'd lived there. Very nomadic.

We`ve had reasonable numbers here for the last 3 years and particularly in 2009. At times , if we headed out for a drive and went into creek beds there wouldnt be a hollow in the large gums that wasnt occupied by a pair of Budgies. I`d noticed small flocks around last week but didnt realise until yesterday that they were all headed in the same direction.

One of natures wonders is the sight of a large flock of Budgies flying in sync . Gotta love the humble Boodgie .

Beautiful active little birds. A far cry from the boof-headed statues generally seen in captivity lately.

Too true Tiaris . I was amazed at how small the Budgie really is in the wild and how streamlined they are . Far cry from the doctored birds we see now.
