Firstly,i don't no what that seed is but it looks pretty safe to use to me.Place a small amount in with the birds and they will let you know if they like it or not.The sun flower,i would let the head start to dry out first and break it into pieces and let the parrots extract them themselves as this gives them something to do. hope this helps Cheers Craig
iis it panic grass/ guinea grass. mine is seeding at the moment, other than that I am clueless. like DB says with the sunflower let the flower dry out abit ....pete
Poitta is right its panic grass 2, you can give it to them anytime if You give it to them now they'll destroy it and pull out tiny Green seeds or let it start to die and they will get more mature seed. Its really up to you try both ways and then you'll find out which birds will prefer which way.
Not sure on the grass, but it is not Panic, with the sunflower, farmers harvest towards the end of Feb, early march, depending of coarse when it was planted, wait till the seed has filled & the stamen start to come of when touched.
