I had a pair of normal yh Gouldians together all last season both with really strong colour - with no result (one clutch of 3 infertile) so in late November I swapped males with first time to hen, young male and this morning 7 fat healthy fledgings took to the world. This is my first x7 clutch (best prior 5). Other male that was in the swap has paired up again and have x2 eggs so far in last two days - interested to see if he has a fertility issue or last pairing was just incompatabile. It does pay to mix and match pairs to find the best combination.

Arranged marriages work sometimes and sometimes not regardless of the species. Always work on a season together. Incase they are slow getting their mojo together. Then change if it does not work or the results are undesirable.
