growling quail?

We took this video of our male quail this arvo..

Is it like a warning growl?

You might not be able to hear so well due to all the other birds.. lol
But you can see his throat swelling and going down..

yes that's a normal thing king quail do :)
mine used to do it all the time... just another method of quail - to - quail contact :)

Well it was all Kylie's fault!!

She was calling to him and he came running from the other side of the aviary, then he started doing that at me!! lolol

P.S. spanna, Kay was asking me why I didn't pop in for a coffee yesterday... Hahaha

My quail do that as well. Especially the males in by themselves with no mate. And sometimes during the still of the night you will hear them call out to each other like a rooster crowing at dawn - i'm sure my neighbours hate me for it !!! For a little bird, they make a big noise.
