Once all the legal mumbo jumbo is sorted and the comms from the External Rio Tinto communicatioons team have given the ok, I will be able to divulge a bit more. I am excited to possibly be involved in something big with the AWC here in the Kimberley. Rio Tinto are really starting to lead the way in the mining industry around Biodiversity and acheiving a net positive impact on all operations. IN a nutshel it means that after a mine closes or during its lofetime the biodiversity in the region will be better and improved as a result of that mines presence. Ive been working on some fabulous projects since I put together Argyle diamonds Biodiversity actions plan. Projects around Gouldians (I had a display aviary buit on the minesite which houses Gouldians from the STGF research facility), partnerships with other minesites along our coast with IBAs and the flyway for some of the JAMBA, CAMBA and RoKamba listed migratory birds. Now looking at projects with the Northern Quoll and Purple Crown fairy wren along the lines of reintrducing in areas they have become extinct (but thats all im sayin)
There will probably be something in the West Australian in the near furture
