Thanks Desertbirds how're yours going?

Ive decided this time of year to give the birds not much at all and discourage breeding. Ive found that a lot of species here muck around a lot and have quite a few abandoned nests , if they are successful then the clutches are small. I think its pretty harsh on hens to be sitting at this time of year. Jan-Feb is just too hot with some days passing 45 deg. Im not that keen on doing much either , particularly collecting termites. April seems to be the trigger for my birds to get real keen, so just waiting for things to cool off. the only finches ive kept that have done really well in this heat is Pictorellas.

Thanks, I'll let you know what happens. I certainly can't see ANY red on either of her cheeks, and the amount of blue is right for an ordinary hen...
@ DB collecting termites in 45 degrees... not my idea of fun. Rather be relaxing with an iced water watching my birds.
It hasn't been a REAL canberra summer here, hottest day about 38, and most around 25 ish. very pleasant, but a bit odd... perhaps why the birds are breeding at this time.
