Coolangatta WILL take birds, (and I have seen dogs being loaded there also) but only if they are on an established account. I use Petflyers, who are based in Townsville, and the owner, Peter, is always very helpful. Anybody wanting his details, PM me, as it takes a lot of the stress out of the process of getting it all organised. They go with Virgin.

Yes, ACT is not NSW. Export and Import permits needed (if bird is native but not licenced no import licence is needed but Regents aren't exempt).jusdeb wrote:Wondering the same getting birds from Canberra ????
Tries google but they only cover country to countrysometimes you gotta wonder about some of these rules .

I understand where you`re coming from Tintola, ive freighted birds to NSW and had to wait for permits ect. Our permit to keep is free and so are the permits to import/export and if i ask nicely i can usually get one in a few days. They are actually more organised than myself.
It does sound like straight out revenue raising in the case of NSW.

I know Jetstar do not do dogs into GC Airport as my cousin who vists here about 4 times a year flies Qantas to Brisbane so he can bring his dog.
I looked at General Aviation GC airport and foind a mob called Coast Cargo handle dogs through Virgin Blue :http://goldcoastairport.com.au/at-the-a ... on-freight They may do birds also.

I had the same problem until I started using Petflyers. Then they have no choice, they have to look after their a/c holders.Tiaris wrote:I've gone to send birds to Gold Coast buyers many times & the local AAe advised me that the Coolangatta airport manager decided no livestock, so I'll push harder next time. Thanks.
He also organises the flight and gives you a choice of what time would suit you and has reasonable rates compared with having to drive to Brisbane.
