Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing as a black "orange breasted" finch as opposed to the normal orange breasted variety. There is a dealer here who told me he is getting $500 a pair for them. I would like to know if he is just blowing wind up me. He also reckons there is a guy breeding pure black zebra finches. Myth or fact?

Thanks for that.

The orange breasts I'm referring to are the little African orange breasts. As for the black zebs, he is referring to a completely black bird, blacker than a charcoal zeb. I call BS on this.

the orange breast is a posibility. but why i would ask,an all orange bird would be much nicer. there are some really black charcoal zebs around here but still have some grey in the wings.. maybe in europe they have a few more colours than us or it could be a jacarini remember some people may think all birds look the same....pete ,
