Zebra Doves & Red Mutation Californian Quails

Hi

Just wondering are these species available in Australian Aviaries as they are in New Zealand Aviaries but uncommon
I have 1 pair of Red Cali's and 3 Pair & a spare hen of Zebra Doves.Zebra Doves look similar to Peacful Doves difference is have more lines all over body thats full chest,wings,tail and wing and have a male zebras have a better coo if listening closely.

I am not aware of any zebra doves in Australia, nor any red mutations of the Californian quail, though we have plenty of the normal sort. Others in the know may know otherwise.

If I was cynical I may suggest that it would be just a matter of time before the mutation pops up here in Australia....

I'm pretty sure what you call 'Zebra Doves', we call 'Peaceful Doves' Geopelia placida, in which case, yes they are widely kept and i'm pretty sure there are some common mutations.

No We have Zebra doves they are a species of there own

Here the 5 species in this family

Diamond Dove [Geopelia cuneata]-found throughout Australia
Peaceful Dove [Geopelia placida]-found in Australia also
Zebra Dove [Geopelia striata]-found in Myanmar [Burma],Malaysia,Sumatra,Java
Barred Dove [Geopelia maugei]-found in Indonesia
Bar Shouldered Dove [Geopelia humeralis]-found in Australia also

Peaceful doves were considered a subspecies of the zebra dove, but are now given full species status as Henry has suggested.

Your right
to add also all Zebra Dove stock in New Zealand was imported in from Japan and Malaysia before import ban in 1997
