Our main welfare organisation is the RSPCA . It has its supporters and knockers also but mostly they have the support of Aussies .

PETA really doesnt get much of a mention here , more an american welfare org .

Also in regards to PETA euthnaising dogs ( as in article), myself Id rather see a dog humanley euthanised than living a miserable existance of malnutrition and cruelty , luckily here putting them to sleep is a last resort and dogs are assessed for rehabiliation before the decision is made .

@Jusdeb, I agree with you, but they go beyond dogs and cats. They turn animals lose. Google their milk campaign. Outdoor aviaries would be at risk!

PETA and its associates has a desire to ban all fishing and with their friends the greens are settinbg up marine zones where no fishing of any type is allowed. It is quite a debate on amateur and commercial fishing forums.

@MadOzzie, I can believe it, I know many breeders of various animal, including birds, that have there animal setup in semi trailers, under roof, for in the event they come knocking on their doors, so all they have to do is hook them up to semi trucks and head for the sticks! You must be a fisherman! :D

Who gave this mob so much power anyway ?
The RSPCA relies on funds from the average Jo to keep going so they have made a point of being a people friendly charity while stll trying to do the work they are set up for .
This PETA mob seem to be on a power trip with no rhyme or reason ....

@Deb, because they are there to make a radical statement, that is it, nothing more. They take people who the can demonstrate the caliber of conduct that I complain about in one post, and use to broadsweep the animal industry as a whole, to dupe people into a scheme that benefits no one. There are to many regulations and people to whistle blow on the bad people of the industry, there really is no need for PETA!
There were many organizations, that dealt with research labratories to protect animals, and got them to agree not to accept animals that at one time were a pet. This was done namely by companies that were into permanent pet identification, namely the tattoo.
When there would be be PETA rallies in my area, I was one of the ones that wore a T-Shirt that said PETA on the front and People Eating Tasty Animals on the back! Or, I love animals, I think they are Tasty!
