Just a question,

I noticed that the gouldians have not been sitting on the nest at night, this has happened three nights in a row.I checked the babies today and they are growing and have full crops.
Is this normal nesting behaviour...??????????

I found usually only the hen will sit and not for all that many days you may have a real good pair

Well its been 25 days now and no fledging.Had a look in the nest today they seem ok.
Noticed on the Gouldian profile that they should fledge between 21..24 days.
Should we be worried??????????

Short answer no.....better to be overcooked before coming out on their first flight into the unknown...

I agree with pilot, better they stay where they are for a day or two longer than fledge too early. The parents will coax them out soon enough.

Today after school Dad and i checked the avairy and 1 Gouldian was out of the nest he looks good and is flying a bit.We have 3 babies in there.
I then checked the nest and could only see 1 baby in there so i looked everywhere in the avairy for the other baby and found him in the corner by himself.Hes not looking good at all very small,so i put him back in the nest.5 minutes later he jumped out onto the floor again.
The baby other baby in the nest look ok.

Should i keep putting the baby back in the nest.

Not sure there's much you can do at this point with the baby as it looks to be on its last legs, sorry to say. :(
