The young hens mother (bird in the very first pic I loaded) is PC/w (and she is a normal shade of purple) but no WC birds from any clutch with this particular cock, so I wouldn't think he would be PC/w. Together they had 3 hens, 2 are BH and one YH. One of the BH and the YH are pale the other hen seems fairly normal.
It seems after I checked the breeding records it must come along the line of the hen as the cock when paired with another hen has produced hens but they have been normal PC. The hen is one I bred myself and her background is YH PC/w GB cock x R/y PC GB
Given the mother hens genetics its possible some of the young hens in the pic are PC/w, but in previous clutches that particular hen when paired with her father who was also PC/w had very normal looking purple chested hens and a couple of WC.
I think its either Lilac breast or something to do with the blue strain. Last thing I expected to crop up, didnt think Lilac was bothered with here so much. Interesting to say the least, but cant say Im a fan of the Lilac if thats what it is. I like the deeper colour.
Hopefully Misso will post a pic of the hen he thinks is possibly Lilac chest so I have something to compare too. Be interesting to know if that hen comes via a blue line too.
Venetta.....have you been able to check any other Lilac chested cock birds to compare yours with?
