He was looking a little better last night but this morning looking not so crash hot. Have given him electrolyte formula directly to beak so as to re hydrate him, another lot of ivomec will be given at lunch till I can source out moxy+ gota a few phone calls to make today glad my holidays have started will give me all the time I need to get this stuff. What I have found is alot of places won't sell it and most vets want to see the young bird before giving anything to him my only concern would be the stress and time which looking at him neither would he good.

yes, can spray leave the bird in the cage, you are not directly spraying into the birds beak but in the cage.

Jusdeb maybe on the right track as Painted hate getting wet or living in damp conditions
you also may concider that if the bird is young it may not have been successful in the weaning process.
the parents will stop feeding but it may have not got it. You get young birds doing that and they simply starve themselves to death.
Please DO NOT just run for the worming mixture when a bird seems ill. Some of these medications are too severe for ill birds.
Warmth, quiet (don't keep looking at it every 10 min)and Spark or some other electrolyte can only help.

Hi Danny,

It may be best not to use any more ivomec or moxidectin; these should be used once and repeated 1-2 weeks later. If given daily then a toxic build up could occur- the last thing that a sick bird needs, as E.orix suggested.

Moxidectin is chemically related to ivermectin and the two should not be used consecutively.

Warmth and rehydration are the two main things. You may also try tripleC antibiotic which you can get over the counter which may help if the birds have a respiratory bacterial infection but it really is just a stab in the dark. If it is a fungal infection such as Aspergillosis then realistically it is probably already too late and the treatment for this is quite difficult.

Good luck.

Thanks guys, will hold off on ivomec, heat running 24hrs in no drafts and kept darkish ( room with blinds down will open blinds when Sun hits that window) will check on him later and might give some more electrolyte drink directly to beak if he hasn't touched a drink.

Baycox is not a worming treatment, moxidectin is.I would keep the bird warm, give it some spark for a few days, provide it with some soft food and red pannicum seed.
I would then treat with Baycox followed with moxidectin.I also use Turbosole at times for sick birds

I would do as E.Orix and Myzomela says (spark and heat)....but not treat with chemicals till you diagnose illness...i.e. check poop and go from there
