It says its already in Australia but I'm not sure I'd hand a lot of money to a Fertiliser company that spells fertiliser wrong in their company name???Fincho162 wrote:Think you're on the mark there Deb..............the more insectivorous the finch the more they seem to hunt the live food and dunno if an inert bowl of "stuff' would appeal to many!!! Also not an aspect of their behviour I'd really want to meddle with either.
.......and good luck with getting that lot through quarantine/customs!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't even get that Bevo insectivore stuff from the States in twice.....once was Ok but twice!!!!!!!!!!!!.......perhaps an opening for a "maggot dessicator" in the bird industry in OZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have longtails in with crimson chats, painteds in with wrens. Both flights get a mixture of live food (maggots, crickets and mealies mostly, plus compost bins in flights) and cake, sometimes I make it with dog biscuits as the protein other times with Vetafarm insectivore mix. Always with lots of added egg flour and cheese. Finches seem to take the cake as readily as the live stuff. Took the longtails a while but they are certainly eating it now.Fincho162 wrote:Think you're on the mark there Deb..............the more insectivorous the finch the more they seem to hunt the live food and dunno if an inert bowl of "stuff' would appeal to many!!! Natamambo, Mate i did nearly all the same foods as you when i had chats and wrens,The wrens devoured it and so did the finches. The wrens/chats bred like mice, the finches became so fat, they could hardly fly and didn't attempt to breed. cheers Craignatamambo wrote:I have longtails in with crimson chats, painteds in with wrens.
