Please make sure Ruthie that you keep on the case. Admittedly it is Easter so contact may be difficult but I reckon you can wrangle it. Please keep us informed. He ( it) looks too good not to fight for. I have a good feeling about this. I had an experience a couple of years ago with a Kookaburra. Hit by a car, sure, but not run over which is an entirely different thing. He was terrible for a couple of days. No breaks, just so totally stunned and dehydrated. 4 days later the vet and I released him back to his original location. He laughed at us when we released him. Sooooo good.

I wonder if it was a stray dog that couldn't walk properly would they just leave it in a cage????

It is pretty obvious this bird needs a general examination- which costs nothing, just 5-10 minutes- and most likely Xrays to see if it has got a future.

Leaving it sitting in a cage so that it may miraculously get better is very poor.

If this bird has irrepairable spinal or limb damage it should be euthanased as the specialist suggested.
If not, then at the least in needs some pain relief, rehydration and yes feeding.

Hopefully it will get a proper examination at the raptor refuge centre.

Good on you Ruthie for pushing for this bird's welfare.
