Thanks for that info on the osprey Pete, I'll keep an eye out when walking that way. Just had the young hawk checking out the doves near the aviary, first time I've seen him without a parent nearby. The chooks barely even look at him now... no alarm call to warn the finches which is a shame.

Redwing if you want to see them , walk down towards the windan bridge (pollies pipe)and look in the palm at the back of the 11th green , they nest up there and watch for fish... pete

Thanks for that Pete, not sure how I'll be able to tell which one is the 11th, but will look at all the palms near the bridge.

We are lucky to have a Raptor lady here. Who leaves a trap with those who need to relocate their nuisances, and returns to take the hawk and trap away to a location out of town. Because she has been doing it for years the local farmers and hobby farmers volanteer their properties. Win win for all as the hawks clean up the mice.

I have been unable to wave my wand and make him disappear.50 metres of shade cloth is a expensive option as a blind to cover the front and one top.Normally other hawks are not so much of a nuisance the tend to be seen there only occasionally.As to why I have only been waving my wand and not putting up shade cloth.Bird netting maybe a option though if he does not disappear.

Would mist netting do the job is it any cheaper or would that hold some horror stories for the local small non predator species?

Not to sure if a hawk would get caught in it. I suppose it would depend on how it is fitted.
