Hmm, that's interesting- I hadn't thought of that. I had him paired with another female previously, but they hadn't built a nest or produced any eggs, so I thought I'd swap partners and see how they go. I've often done this and had no problems before. The poor girl, it just broke my heart to see her after she'd been beaten up. I was hoping she'd recover, but knew she probably wouldn't.

Could it be that he was in breeding condition and she was not. So in frustration he belted her up?
