No, I should have said that. Many birds won't tolerate nest inspections at all, good point Madhatter.

I'm with gomer on this one, I try and wait a week at least before ringing mine,on average about 3weeks. When I hage a few pairs and young fledge at around the same time I will ring them all the same colour to make sure that I wouldn't sell any related young as pairs. This might not be the most effective way but seems to work for me.

Thanks everyone for the advice in the previous posts. Banded my older youngsters today (they ranged from 2 - 3 weeks of age) and all went well.

Was interesting watching the response of the different pairs of parents involved. Ranged from sitting on a perch a few inches from where I banded them to sitting on top of the nest box the youngsters at the time came from to actually staying in the box as I removed / returned youngsters.

Still have a few others to do, but will wait a another week or so for them.
