I suspect you are joking but anyway from my discussion with the officer I understood that what she meant is the the mound was not a breeding site for something other than termites. Re type of termites I am told there are something like many different types of termites and the ones that build mounds are not the ones that attack a wooden house...well that is what the termite inspector for our house says.Tintola wrote:You cannot take from a mound that is a breeding site ???????Oh well, just tell them it's a "recreation site" only and that the queen was out on official duties and the rest of them were all playing tennis when you broke it open.
I'd like to see them prove you wrong. The guy obviously knows nothing about the biology of termites. Just keep doing what you are doing. What are they going to do? Give you a warning? Every home owner spraying a mound on their fence line would be guilty of the same crime. DON"T MAKE WAVES AND YOU WON"T CAUSE A TSUNAMI.
The fact is that most of the termites that we collect as terrestrial mounds are not the same species that attack houses.
Like 'crocnshas' my wife is still not convinced so have them in one of those plastic tubs with a lid you get on a building sites and placed this in a $10 plastic dustbin from Bunnings with water in the bottom (just in case the termite man was wrong). I once visited a guy with a large aviary complex near Byron Bay and he had a very large old table with each leg in a pot of water on which he broke up termite nests from around his farm and had being do that for over 20 years without a problem.
Now my second aviary has a small access way I will try breeding the fly maggots which as I said befor my wife would not permit in the garage which was my only facility.
