I am with MODERATOR. The cubans seem to be a pair but the possible male must be immature as does seem to have as much colour as one would expect. Re the DBs it would depend on the photo lighting but given the whiteness of the chests would seem to be male. I have found on pairs I have been able to identify as a pair the female seems to be creamier than the male. However I have also thought that I identified a single female on this basis only to be wrong. The only sure way I have found is to identify a male by his little dance with a bit of grass to attract a female and by having different coloured rings on them.

I won't hazard a guess on the Double bars. They are tricky at the best of times.
Re the cubans. Perhaps you should just double check with your pet store. Did they buy the birds from a single breeder. Can you be sure they are not nest mates? The problem I always found with pet stores. One can never be sure if you are pairing a bro/sister.

Although they look like a true pair...but without DNA or previous breeding you couldnt be totally sure...goldelf wrote:RE: DOUBLE BARS-thought a picture of a true pair would be helpful perhaps:

And the add says pair not breeding pair. So it could just mean 2 birds. Sorry but some people advertise this way with a buyer beware attitude.
