New interests-hobbies started to take over and the birds were starting to take a back seat, time to move them on.This was a bit of a hard decision as my Major's and my Eclectus were like my mates [they are very smart birds].Sadly,my Eclectus have never bred for their new owners, even though they had over 20 young for me and they were all parent reared.I don't like fostering-hand rearing,as i think this is detrimental to the species and should only be carried out if the chick-chicks are in danger of perishing..Just MY thoughts.Anyhow, whilst driving down my track the other day,i saw a pair of Diamond Sparrows feeding on some winter grass and this bought back some very fond memories for me.My dad used to have them,as did i,and they are one of my most favourite finches. It is hard to beat the beautiful mix of red, white, black, subtle grey, truly a dapper little fellow, but, like those frustrating peachface, hard to sex.Watching these stunning little fellows has since made me question why i got rid of my birds and yes they have ignited that spark that was set 40 odd years ago. Now,as i have said in my introduction,i am ready and really looking forward to buiding my aviary and getting back into my finches-only.Sit down at the front of your aviary, watch and observe your birds and your cares are gone for those moments. If you can derive pleasure from such a simple thing, any cost is totally worth it.Hope i'm not boring every body, will give an idea of what my aviary will be like soon.Bye for now.

Welcome to the forum. The life story of getting into and out of and back into finches/birds. Is interesting and a little familiar.
