It wont cost a fortune to make one . My fav one was only $6.00 from ebay before that I used the nut and string .

Finch breeder there is def some thing going on with this bird . Hoping mother nature will get things kick started with the warmer weather , beautiful bird anyway just a shame its gender challenged .

An old breeder mate of mine used to swear by his magnet - unfortunately he wasn't real bright and had 9 out of 10 pairs of cubans, sexed by magnet, as cock-cock pairings. His zebs weren't much better. Load of crap designed to impress the gullible.

So like humans to crap on what they don't understand ....no biggie .

And so like many of the members to crap on what others believe to work.

Yeah, Deb, that's fine - just remember:

and

A friend is someone who says you have an open mind, instead of telling you that you have a hole in the head

If only that were so. Life would be so much easier if faith and believing made things true. Unfortunately I suspect believing in it is the magic that makes you believe it works.

Never ever be afraid to do whats right if the well being of an animal is at stake.

I am one who would rather put their faith in science. But reads their horoscope etc. Why? Because I never completely discount anything as wrong. The world holds many mysterys we do not know the answer too. So I will "as the expression goes" have a bob each way (translation for the younger set) hedge my bets. But go with the scientific method overall. Why? I have witnessed just enough improbabilitys proven correct in my time to not dismiss them without allowing for the "things we don't yet understand" theory.

my family have used the wedding ring on a string for years  , But I’m the sceptic ;-) . So last time Mum was down to visit i carried out a little test . I got Mum to sex one dozen hen eggs and as she did I marked on the bottom what she had said male or female then I mixt them up in a different order and got her to do them again , Second time around she got two the same . next time i will get her to sex some finches that I know the sex of ( she knows nothing about finches ) and see how it goes . that should prove it to be rubbish .

westfinch (and also danny), the magic force knows when you are trying to trick it with your scientific approaches. It decides to leave the building rather than be subjected to this new fangled science business. Despite your feeble mortal science experiments, the force will prevail!
