I would not even have hung arround long enough to take the pic so you are braver than me. I head for the house screaming and gathering up the dog as I go. If you phone DEC they can give you the name/s of the nearest "snake man" and then when you next see it you ring and he comes, catches and re-locates. This is one area in which they are very helpful.

Yikes.... someone mentioned to me that snakes get trapped in rolls of chicken wire, apparently can get in but can't get out. Don't know if there is any truth in this. Creepy to think he is coming back for food now he knows there is a smorgasbord...
Hope you get it. Any snake catchers in your area?

Poor little birds must be terrified!
I thought snakes only regurgitated when they are scared and need to make a quick get away - maybe you accidentally disturbed it that day!
I get the occasional tiger or brown snake getting trapped in the bird netting I have around & over my vege garden.
Not the best solution - they get extremely cranky/bitey if trapped like that - not real safe to be around and a pretty crappy ending is the only way of extracting them. Most people who get bitten are trying to knock one off with a shovel or something.
When I get the chance I just put a landing net in front them, they go into it, flip it over to seal it and you can go relocated them in the bush. All very calm, quiet and no bitey drama.

I am currently working on a long handled net so that i am about 2 .4 m away from it, so if it pops up again i can catch the bugger an relocate it to my neighbours house, I am serious the guy is a menace .
But I know have to re think my footings on the aviary either another 30 cm wide by 40 cm to 50 cm deep concrete or all blue metal channel. So any thoughts on the issue will be appreciated currently its tin and brick to 30 to 40 cm deep, also considering another trench 50 cm out from the current one with a layer of blue metal 10 cm deep over wire to allow for drainage and to stop the mice from digging in....
But going on your theory Mortisha I have had a local hawk terrorising that aviary, that may have caused it to bring it up..... pete

Hi, I'm not sure of your prior experience with them but a cornered and angry brown is an extremely dangerous combination. You may be bettr to rig up a way of preventing escape once he's emerged from his hole and is trapped in the aviary (a sandbag on a string that can be dropped over the hole works well) and give these guys a call http://snakecatchers.com/services.html
