A very simple but very effective concept that really works,
in years gone bye, Bacon fat , Lard or Dripping was used as Bait, which was rubbed onto the bottle neck which also made it very slippery balancing act
when a Rodent tried to get a free feed, it lost its footing and the Bludger went straight into a nose dive from which there was no return.
Birds have a very keen sense of taste and smell but,
to suggest that they may pick on, or even eat Mouse schmidt could be hard to swallow.
