Believe me I was really really tempted to get them, the only thing that stopped me was they were the same/similar breeding as all the gouldians I have now.
I went to the show intending to get fresh lines.

Will do,
so far I have 13 young flying around, five more in a nest about week old and five (so far) eggs in another.....and thats just the gouldians! I only have 3 adult pairs, producing all these.
Next job is building some cages so I can separate the young till they fully moult so I can see what I have.

How rare are blue gouldians in AU I've been keeping an eye out for last 6 months to try and get one but at $500 a bird it might take me longer than I thought.

The day i purchased my first gouldians from a pet shop here in Brisbane they had silvers & a sign for a pastel (but was sold) in the shop for $60-70. At the time I had no idea what they are / were worth. Unfortunately never seen anything close to it again in that shop.

personally I wont buy birds from pet shops. you have no way of knowing the age or background of the bird. most of the time the salesperson wont know anything worthwhile either.
for blues and silvers you should expect to pay $400 to $600 per bird
