Seriously considering Emus

Most of the above comments reflect what I had previously thought was the case- i.e. unpredictable, prone to stress and potential to inflict injury. However this was absolutely not the case with the two we saw last weekend. I'll do a bit more research...

Hi Sam,
My thoughts are you could inprint the fledgling and they will see you as their parent....
I had a young chicken, that thought it was human; after a simple biology experiment are school.
I've seen tame emu's at Featherdale Farm, so it can happen...
Just don't put them in suspended's....

Just a warning about imprinted animals.
Imprinting = loss of fear- a real problem when breeding season hits and they are driven by their hormones.
Many animal attacks on humans are the result of exactly this- imprinted roos, deer & yes emus.
Just be careful.

Cant agree more Myzo , with some critters the human imprinted ones display the worse behaviour. We think they will better because we raised them but forget they have totally different mindset.
