I ended up buying 4 of the small stainless 'coop cups' today. They appear to work well, I have 3 filled with a crumble/seed mix and the 4th filled with shell grit. The birds took to them straight away so they were either hungry or like their new feeders.

I also bought some medium size 'coop cups' for water however I'll be taking them back tomorrow as they don't sit level on the wire.

With water do you need a water source for drinking and a water source for bathing?

If you use same bowl needs to be cleaned atleast once daily..Thats why I use rabbit type drinkers...and put a bathing bowl in each morning

Keep these rabbit bottles out of the sun. The water can foul and become warmand unpalatable. :)

Be a little careful using seed hoppers, I had a problem about 30 years ago with one that looked full & it stopped working because of moths.
Also a friend of mine got a friend to look after his birds why he was on holidays, his hopper had stopped also, he lost most of his birds by the time he got back.
So if you go away & get someone to look after the birds then put a dish of seed also.
Now I only use big dishes for my seed.

Even a dish of husk looks OK to the untrained eye . Ask your helper to topup the feed dish every day you’re away to be on the safe side .

How full do you fill your feeders? I used to fill them full to overflowing however as they do the finches would spray seed everywhere. This last week I have been half filling them but they seem to get full of husks by the end of the day. I guess seed is cheap so I'll go back to filling them up and put up with them being messy...
