Curiosity has the better of me of me so i have to ask, do the birds use the bush in the back ground or prefer to perch on the dead stuff (which looks similar to ti tree) . Im only asking because ive noticed a few aussie finches that dont like the broad leaved exotic plants and always seem to prefer dead sticks and native shrubs to nest in and land in. ?
Being young birds I suppose they are feeling their way. The adult pair built in brush after their first failed attempt in a nest box. In the Pittrostrum in the photo my Pictorellas built a nest
and fledged 3 young so I guess broad leaf plants don't bother them. The aviary they are in is 6.5m x 6.5m x 2.5h.
