Bird theft

It's really annoying and sad when birds are stolen.I guess if the thief is not wanting them to keep, but sell, then the people buying them are no better.
It's amazing how few are caught. Over the years I have had several break ins,the police take notes on inspection but they have limited resorces.
A few years ago I had a major breakin when several pairs of very very rare birds were stolen. My problem was handed over to a police group
located in a capitol city.They were very good and it was decided not to tell anyone what had happened.Their reason and mine was that these birds being so rare would eventually hit the market.They didn't and not one has come up for sale.Now several years later not a trace of them or any of their young.
I lost breeding pairs which I had hoped to build up numbers,all gone.I have missed out but so has our hobby as it seems that those birds didn't breed or went else where.All you can do is make it harder and harder for a would be thief to access and catch the birds.Visitors are still welcome here, only I am far more careful these days on who enters my place.

How is every bodies season going this year any way??

I had a good season with my canaries. One of my outcrosses really clicked.

It's just so hard to get past the seriousness of this topic. All I do is write down the license plates of buyers cars and I refuse to give out my address to people who call from private numbers. I have met sellers who wouldn't let me past the front doorstep and now I see the wisdom.

Police have a problem with identifiying individual birds unless they are rung with breeder id. But some are very helpfull and some are so-so. Hope they find the so and so's.

sorry to hear about the birds beeing stolen hopefully police might get some leed on the people but very muchly doubt it

My security is my dog.

If someone gets into my yard and can get into the aviary with their face intact they have either

1) shot my dog or

2) Are known to my dog

I really hope the mongrel gets caught.

The greed and jealousy of this makes me mad

Sad news to hear, Hope they catch the mongrels.........

There is a story about a fellow that rang cops and said I think my shed is being broken into I can hear noises....Cops said sorry mate have to wait we are too busy at the moment.....so a few minutes later the fellow rings back and says its all right I shot him come round anytime...within moments there was 6 police cars and a swat team...where upon the officer in charge says I thought you said you shot him...Fellow replies thought you said you lot were too busy.......
