L.o.l .....yes sorry guys...I'm not fantastic at explaining stuff at times........:-/ rest assured I have a very good avian vet, I feed my birds the best I can, and I will always place my animals first no matter what they are ! ...my reference to my past reptile keeping was in response to a post by another member saying that Gouldians weren't for beginners...I understand this, but neither were any of the reptiles I kept and they were all is great condition...that's because i am always reading and looking up info about the animals I keep...so my birds will be no different, yes I am relatively new to keeping finches compared to many users here, but have kept parrots in the U.K so I'm not a beginner and do understand the nutritional need for different and fresh food variety

How did you manage to get Fijian iguanas (crested/banded?)? Was this in the UK or here in Australia?

Well I am Australia but I was living in the u.k whiles serving with the British armed forces...I have been over there24 years before returning over here...and in the U.K you do not need licences to keep reptiles unless they are dangerous...and the Fijians I had were banded a pair. They wee captive bred by a big breeder of these animals in Germany ( they have huge expos over there for reptiles) birds to I expect...and I ordered a pair from him...they were not cheap !! But worth every penny...now because they a critically endangered species they have to be captive bred of course...and each annual had to be kept on a special cites register..microchipped and tracked if sold..they were my babies.

beautiful creatures...the male was stunning.! I would post a piccy...but don't know how. X

Yes, the fact that they are critically endangered was why I was so surprised that you had a pair outside of Fiji. The smuggling trade over the past few decades has played a large part in decimating their populations in Fiji (in conjunction with habitat loss and predation), which is a huge concern.

No...it's not aloud...each animal has to be registered with Cities listed 1 ( critically endangered) in the U.K and Europe its VERY different than in Australia...you can own pretty much any reptile ...even a Komodo dragon if ou have enough money to buy one...( £40000 each! ) there are breeders over there who do this on a large scale...they have websites offering the, for sale...but there are captive bred animals and come with papers that Re fully licenced...ou do not need a reptile keepers licence any where in the U.K or Europe...only if you have a venomous reptile do you need to apply for a licence from the council...inform the hospital of what animal you own that is dangerous and the enclosure the animal is being kept in has to be checked for safety.
All other reptiles can be kept with no question...now I personally believe that they should bring licences in...it would prevent idiots who have no clue buying a reptile of the cuff with no knowledge of how to look after it.
I had about 43 different types of breeding reptile...mainly day geckos,Madagascan leaf tail geckos, chameleons, goannas and iguana

so sad I couldn't have brought them over with me to NSW.
