page 1 photo of the young pied. out today with nest mate. one got all the colour and one nothing. as for breeding the zero colour ones usually outperform the heavily decorated ones. but a very nice looking bird

Very nice bird WB,it's interesting how the legs/feet and toenails are pied as well, being white/ yellow.Many years ago,if any birds where split to pied you could tell if they had a white toe nail or two. It can happen in parrots as well. Craig

I agree, Craig. That's how a friend of mine got onto pied Bourkes and (I think) red-rumps as well.

Budgie breeders have been using the feet to tell pied chicks in the nest before pin feather stage for years. Does not always work of course, as it depends where the pieding is.
