They look over done compared to the ones I have had fledge over the last few days.
Not just Parrot Finches but other types that have been forced out of their nests early due to the 40c+ heat we have had.
They look great and 3 means your management must be good. Well done.

You should give them a go, Tom! Awesome little birds to have around :D always doing something.
Thanks Orix! It has been hot here, but only a couple of 39-40s so far... hope it stays more or less that way!

Bluebutterfly's fledgelings look over done "yes", but jayburds look quite under done to my eyes. Interesting, It could well be in the eye of the beholder. As long as the blighters are flying around, something was done right

Congrats Jayburd! RFPF are my favourites of them all. They are full of character and breed like rabbits once they get going.

Considering the heat you having your birds look fantastic! I'd be pleased as punch if mine came out fully feathered. I usually have at least two they jump the nest before they can even fly.

Thanks everyone :D
I think it was just the angle that made it look underdone, that and it was (to my knowledge) their first day out, so they were probably a little tight-feathered - took this shot a few minutes ago :)

How old are your birds?
Blue Faced P/F will nest at a very early age as young as 4/5 months old at times.
This also means that they are just about had it as breeders after 2 seasons.
Their 1st year in my experience is their major producing period.
Sadly they can look in great condition at 3+ years old but burnt out as breeders.
Until you have experience at breeding these birds may I suggest only one pair to an aviary
or 1 male and 2 females. Even an old female will help as the male should put the young hen down
then leave her alone while his attention is on the other hen.
