Thanks Tiaris.
This is good news. Only last year I was asking around for Charcoals to add to my flock, because I love the contrasting dark grey, black, chestnut and bright white. Then one just turns up among my existing birds instead - and a beauty at that.
I feel lucky.

Ha, Craig, that's interesting. I had a slight suspicion that at least one of the Charcoal genes snuck in via some birds which came from the Central Coast, because her body shape matches their genetic line.

the bird you thought was a black front was most likely a normal bird just with the extra black it mostly moults out when the young colour up, it is completely normal in some strains of greys.

Charcoal Pied Hen. Black Fronted Hens have white under the belly which runs in between the legs to the tail.

I had a mixed aviary and had even mix of charcols and normals, used to sell 20 to 30 birds every other month to local pet store's could be some of my blood lines.Had quite a few hens like her also some with silver cheek's
Even ended up with this fellow a one stage.
