Is this something similar to the Old Seed Winnower, which got rid of the chaff, but still held on to the Bird Droppings, and that is why I no longer use it.

Yeah I figured that too...but he has some feeders in the video I would be interested in too if I can find out where he gets them... :thumbup:

I think it is Guy,you might have one mine or Noels seed winnowers that we made.To get rid of the droppings you use a 3mm sieve to get rid of the large droppings where as the seed and smaller droppings fall through,these smaller droppings weigh next to nothing and go up with the husks. Graig

I won't Winnow seed as I will not reuse it but it is great for separating Meal Worms and even
Maggots if you adjust it properly.

I'm just wondering how droppings get into the seed? I use feeders the birds can only stick their heads in. Regards

BluJay seed winnowers are generally used on seed that been fed out in open trays or from seed hoppers with a husk catching drawer which also catches any droppings either way. Craig

Yes i sometimes do that too but i reuse the winnowed seed in my sprouting mix where it is soaked in disinfectant and rinsed any way,no waste here. Craig

I tried the winnower a few times,found it wasn't worth the effort ,so now i moisten down the husks and left over seed and feed it to the chooks ,not much left after that,garyh

We find the winnower fantastic and can't believe we waited so long to purchase one from Arthur Firkin. :thumbup:
