I visited Cornel University about 10 years ago during the thaw and again about 5 years ago in the Fall and I'll agree it's beautiful around the Great Lakes however stories of 3-4 m snow drifts against the house every winter made me wonder if it's worth it! I presume you'll have a nice heated and well-lit bird-room to over-winter your stock in but otherwise I cant see any problem with out-door aviaries. Its exciting to set off on an adventure you're passionate about and have the resources to support it.
Hello,

No. I'm not Native American.

As for the weather!!!!!!

Holy .... What is happening here?! The weather is hectic and it's supposed to snow. Instead we got a few freeze days and then the temperature went back to spring time conditions. All the trees that went dormant are budding and its raining hard. I'm afraid we will not have fruit this year. Last year frost came in and off and we were left with 25% production of crop from trees.

Maybe I should come down under?!

Hello TailFeathers
Welcome to this forum of bird lovers, there seems to be a Hugh amount of knowledge here. Have you had birds in the past or is this a new adventure?
Regards

Ive had experience of the Great Lakes too but from the other side of the border! Lived in Toronto CN when I was very small, have many pics of Niagara Falls, the boardwalk in the Summer and the huge snowfalls around Lake Ontario.

Kiwi? You're a New Zealander then? If so, nice country. Welcomes as well.

Nice. What took you to Australia? I bet the weather chased you away. Hahaha
