SamDavis, take the eggs out of the crate and lay on their sides, then photograph. Thank you.

First pic, daily collection of coturnix cock eggs. Sell to health food store 1.75 per 10, and to public. Didn't need coturnix cocks caninilizing or scalping others. Only exception was Texas A&M, which is an all white meat bird. People enjoy, to eat. Was developed to be chicken replacer. But didn't happen.
Second pic, is some of the coturnix battery's. Rotated evey other week.
Third pic my sis checking on them, in finishing area. Note I raise them and keep them on alfalfa, in the buildings.
Fourth pic same area. Five and six, brooder, each tier holds 25 chicks.
Seventh pic, are button quail/Chinese painted quail I hatched by the hundreds. A couple friends and I developed chocolate colored ones. Which are my personal fav along with red breasted. Regards.
Sorry pics not so good. Pulling off crashed hard drive.

Vettepilot_6, if you look closely at the eggs, you will see the top left two are rounded. And the others have a more blunt ended. Regards.

Thank you for your consideration, KENTUCKY. Regards.

I am happy with whatever the birds are willing to produce. But also find this interesting as a possibility if there are too many eggs for a hen to cover.

So looking at the canary eggs your saying the eggs that are more pointy at the top are males and the more round eggs are females?

It does work, I have been doing it for years with chooks, with a 98% success rate. never bothered with birds.

Shaun_b, that is what I'm saying. However, the top left two are rounded, and will be hens. The three starting at the right going to bottom middle will be cock birds. Regards.

Words after my heart. You must be good ole down home boy.
You know them old hens and those roosters make the best chicken and dumpling or soup. They need to be slow cooked. Mmm.
As of this morning one of the eggs hatched, right side. So has to be cock bird. Hope the hens takes care of them. Her first clutch. Regards

We did this with chook eggs when I was a kid, too. I just thought it was common knowledge at the time...
