A bit of both. It seems to "ripen" quite unevenly but that's actually ok when you're do the harvesting by hand. I sort of measure how ready the seed is based on the weight of the seed head as you pick it. I'm not sure how they do it commercially as I'd say about 50% is good now but a heap needs another week or so. I'd be interested to know how farmers manage this.

I plan on filling an old seed bag each morning for the next week. That will fill my freezer.

It'd be darn expensive given the time it takes me to harvest by hand. You're welcome to come down and pick some yourself if you like. I doubt I'll use it all.

Hi Sam
Did you rely on rainfall only or do you have irritation? I have a crop that's about 2 week behind yours that's looking ok but if l don't irriate i have no hope.
